The Leica EM-Trim is a very useful device for the preparation of embedded samples prior to the final sectioning in the Ultramicrotome. In principle it´s a mini milling cutter combined with an adjustable arm that holds the specimen-holder for the microtome. With this device the specimen is pre-trimmed for the final sectioning in the ultramicrotome.
