Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Applications in Soft Matter and Beyond

Elucidating Functional Material at the Molecular Level

solid state NMR
Solid-state NMR spectroscopy is a versatile method to study local molecllular packing as well as dynamic molecular process in bulk material, which is in many cases the key to elucidate and understand the molecular origin of functional properties of materials. more
HR-MAS NMR Teaser
Increasing rotational correlation times of larger and larger molecules, aggregating or gelating systems lead to shorter T2 relaxation times limiting the spectral resolution and ultimately the full chemical resolution in these systems. Magic angle spinning can help to average the broadening influence of incoming dipolar interations and recover the full chemical shift resolution.  more
Solution NMR Teaser
In most cases, solution NMR measurements are used for the characterization of chemical structures. Solution NMR studies in the context of the NMR group typically focus molecular processes during or after phase transitions in liquid environments like e.g. in polymersomes or aggregation processes of oligo peptides. more
NMR Magnet
In our NMR group we operate four different NMR spectrometers at different flied strength in the range from 300 MHz up to 850 MHz 1H Larmor frequency equipped with a broad range of different NMR probes and dedicated to different applications.  more
