Synthetic Life-like Systems Group

Started in 2017, the objective of the Synthetic Life-like Systems group is to integrate synthetic materials into cellular life, where their co-existence within a system establishes a synergy and a seemingly symbiotic relationship.

Based on this principle, we investigate how biomolecules can enable synthetic macromolecular materials exceed their physical/chemical limitations. Likewise, we also look deeply in how biological behaviour and cellular processes can be reprogrammed by our macromolecular toolbox.
