Welcome to the BioFabLab

Welcome to the BioFabLab

The Biofabrication and Biomaterials Innovation Lab (BioFabLab) is at the forefront of developing innovative biocompatible materials with a range of enhanced properties tailored for advanced medical applications. Our work focuses on the development of biomaterials that combine electrical conductivity, bioadhesion, self-healing, photoresponsiveness and on-demand degradability - key properties that enhance both performance and versatility in biological environments. By exploiting these properties in sophisticated biofabrication technologies, we create optimised materials that address critical needs in tissue engineering, biosensor development and regenerative medicine.
Our approach involves the integration of functional materials into bioinks suitable for bioprinting, enabling the precise fabrication of complex, tissue-like structures that support cellular growth and signalling. In addition, the laboratory is exploring applications in biosensor technology, where materials with conductivity and biodegradability offer promising opportunities for in situ monitoring and diagnosis. Through interdisciplinary research and collaboration, the BioFabLab aims to push the boundaries of what biomaterials can achieve, opening up new possibilities in personalised medicine and bioengineering solutions for a healthier future.
